What is the difference between these two routers? Doesn't the WHR-HP-G54 have afterburner anyway?

Try searching a bit on your own. That topic has been beat to death. There are plenty of entries answering your question.

Perhaps you misread the title, but I am not talking about the WHR-G54S. Every once in a while, I see WHR-HP-G54S referenced somewhere, and I'm wondering what the S added to the model is for. I thought maybe it was a name used in Asia or elsewhere.

I don't think it exists. That sounds like a typo.

Okay. I was wondering why so few places listed it with the S.

You're right, I misread it. I saw the S at the end, and automatically didn't see the HP on that one. I thought you were comparing the WHR-G54S and the WHR-HP-G54, as most people do. My apologies.

I agree with fastpakr in that there is no such thing as the WHR-HP-G54S....what you saw must have been a typo or someone's confusion.
