Dear forum,

I recently upgraded from a WRT54G v2.0 to a WRVS4400N because I switched to 16mBit DSL and all opinions on this forum were that the WRT54G would not be able to handle the traffic (it was maxing out on 6MBit before).

I am seriously disappointed by the stability and features of the firmware and REALLY miss all the goodies of DD-WRT.

I have seen some threads asking for support of this on the router (as it is Linux based too). After 3 weeks of playing around I am BEGGING for such a support, would even be willing to pay 100 € for this cause.

Any chance of helping me out? I do not care for Wireless N at the moment, just the performance and GBit Ethernet.

Cheers,

oreos

Dear Eko,

the best info I could find was from this forum in this thread:

http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=8389&highlight=wrvs4400n

Excerpt from the thread:
The WRVS4400N is really fascinating. It is based on two SoCs from Star Semi (9109 + 9202, both ARM9 based), the Vitesse VSC7385 Gigabit and the Marvell TopDog draft-n WLAN chipset. According to the GPL sources the 9109 has access to 32 MB RAM and the 9202 to 64 MB RAM.

Cheers,

oreos

Dear Eko,

will there be a decision on the side of the DD-WRT team on whether to support it or not? It would be nice to know as I would otherwise try to resell it.

I know that the GPL sources are available.

Many thanks for any response,

oreos

Hi,

no, if you ask me, it will not be supported by dd-wrt. Maybe BS has some thoughts, but don't hold your breath.

I PM'd BS on this issue some weeks ago and his answer was not positive. Maybe he might rethink this in the future as the poll shows interest in this device or answer himself on this post. I do not want to copy&paste his reply as this was a PM and therefore not public.

I emailed linksys support 2 months ago on the bugs and they are still "working on them" with 4 follow-up emails. It is a tragedy!!!

Once more my appeal to the developers to port DD-WRT on this device...

ymihere pointed ot to me that Kaloz as offered to take a stab at a port if we can ship him a wrvs4400n - I would be happy to contribut$25 - $50 (US) towards either effort (DD or Kaloz) if it gets a decent OS with VPN support on the box.

I'm in with € 40 as well. Anyone else? If i see some more people adding to that the donation is out the next days. then he can buy and keep the WRVS4400N.

It would be great to see some of these contributors who voted make a statement.

Cheers,

oreos

BTW: I still didn't find out how to donate to them money and not devices

At the very least is there a way to set this router to work on my current network which has a Subnet of 255.255.0.0

TIA
