I will be modding some external antennas using IP/ u.fl to RP-SMA Female bulkhead
and 3 3dBi 5Ghz antennas and some for the 2.4 band. But I discovered something weird, and hope you guys can clarify it for me.
You can see all the grey wires are "soldered" and there are two sockets empty ahead of it. Now I have no clue what it is, the other 3 black wires I can replace and mod.

Those are manufacturer test connectors, you can't do anything with them. The only wat to put external antennas on the 2.4GHz radio is to solder in the pigtails. _________________ Peacock Thread-FAQ -- dd-wrt Wiki
Is it the antennas I got or the cables cause the trouble guys ? Would you guys recommend me getting high end cisco antennas like this Cisco AIR-ANT5135D-R
Or any other antennas that would boost the 5Ghz band ? And by the way, all Cisco antennas use RP TNC, can I just keep the cables I got (u.fl to RP SMA) and use an adapter (RP SMA to RP TNC) together, would that cause performance loss ? Thanks in advance !

I know this is an old post (searched) but i have a nb question. Right now I am connecting to cablewifi via E3200 in repeater mode with a signal strength around 27 but drops below 20 at times. My question is will the external antenna mods help increase the signal strength if i choose the non solder type antennas? Im confussed about the 5ghz or 2.4ghz mods.
