Did you use ddwrt and instructions by BraySlayer?

I have few more questions for BrainSlayer.
1) is this the most recent version of ddwrt for Unifi?
2) How to get back to original FW if i would need? It would be nice if you could upload restore guide.

Thanks for reply

If your bootloader is undamaged, you can get in via serial console. You will need a serial to TTL adapter, which you can build yourself if you want following the initial part of this tutorial I wrote:

http://mikepuchol.com/2007/06/25/building-a-usb-programmer-for-motorola-radios/

The DB9 pinout mapping to the Unifi's serial port is thus:

DB9 <-> Unifi
2 - SOUT
3 - SIN
5 - GND

No need to use the 3.3V pin if you build the adapter following my post, it's powered from the USB side.

Once you have the adapter connected, open a serial terminal app and set it up for 115200 baud, 8-N-1, and follow these steps:

1. Power up your Unifi. You will see this:

Code:
U-Boot 1.1.4.2-s481 (Feb  3 2011 - 19:20:26)

Board: Ubiquiti Networks XM board (rev 1.2 e512)
DRAM:  64 MB
Flash:  8 MB
Net:   eth0, eth1
Hit any key to stop autoboot:

You must send any key to stop the boot process. If you manage this, you will see this prompt:

Code:
ar7240>

2. Type urescue and send (Enter). The Unifi will start its tftp rescue system, showing you this:
Code:

Setting default IP 192.168.1.20
Starting TFTP server...
Using eth0 (192.168.1.20), address: 0x81000000
Waiting for connection: *-\|/-\|/-\|/-\|/-\|/-\

The LED will flash while it waits for you to start sending the .bin image via tftp to the default IP address as shown.

3. Send the image you want to flash, eg. an original Ubiquiti FW or DD-WRT, using your favorite tftp program. Serial console will show progress as:
Code:

Receiving file from 192.168.1.200:49096
Received 512 bytes
Received 10240 bytes
Received 14848 bytes
Received 25088 bytes
Received 28672 bytes
...

4. Once sent, the image will be flashed, and upon successful completion, you will see this:

Code:
Firmware Version: BZ.ar7240.v6.0.0.60000.110900.1000
Setting U-Boot environment variables
Un-Protected 1 sectors
Erasing Flash.... done
Erased 1 sectors
Writing to Flash... done
Protected 1 sectors
Copying partition 'kernel' to flash memory:
   erasing range 0x9F050000..0x9F6AFFFF: ...................................................................................................... done
Erased 102 sectors
   writing to address 0x9f050000, length 0x00660000 ...

Firmware update complete.

Resetting...

5. It's important to reboot once more after the whole bootup procedure has finished, sometimes there are settings not properly configured until the second boot.

Let me know if you get stuck anywhere.

Hi BrainSlayer,

i have tried you bin and install.txt instructions. Flashing proccess goes well, but after:

1) I see only SSID "ddwrt"
2) I can connect with client to Unifi with ddwrt firmware and SSID "ddwrt", but doesnt work correctly. For example my phone get from dhcp server correct gateway (and internet work fine) but laptop get wrong gateway. If i connect not via Unifi laptop it gets correct GW.
3) The biggest problem is that i cant find any IP addrees which should Unifi use (before flashing i setup static 192.168.1.20, which work fine till flashed) so i cant connect to unifi and manage anything. Neither via http nor ssh. Also ping doesnt work.
4) AP Unifi keep flashing green light, i am not sure if it is some kind of status warning.

Here is output from ssh console:

http://img837.imageshack.us/img837/5397/snap635.png
http://img408.imageshack.us/img408/2408/snap636.png
http://img853.imageshack.us/img853/599/snap637.png
http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/8996/snap638.png
http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/4791/snap639.png

Hope it helps. If i should provide some other info please let me know.
Can you give me advice what options i have now?

Thank you

Well,

i am stupid and you should write better instructions!

At first you should specify that after flashing ddwrt firmware IP address of Unifi AP is set to 192.168.1.1 and also there is activated DHCP server by default. In my case the IP colidate with our server and also dhcp server.

I was also very surprised that this ddwrt is only 24h trial. If i know before it that this version is paid i will probably not lost time with try. 24h for some testing isnt much if you try it in the Friday afternoon before the weekend Wink

I have question about the price, is it this? :
http://www.dd-wrt.com/shop/catalog/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=&products_id=41

Well, and last question, may i use GUI in DDWRT to flash back the original firmware?

Thanks

I swear I read lot of artickles and guides here. If you think i have not read the right one please point me else please dont criticize me.

-I have tried ssh and telnet into the ddwrt without luck. SSH/telnet daemon was enabled and also managment via SSH/telnet was enabled via WebGUI. Maybe you disable this option in non activated FW?
-Also i have tried several fw versions 18687, 18024, 18007, 18000, 17967 because i have found artickle with informations that some version has not working ssh/telnet. After flashing 17967 i bricked my UNIFI, i cant ping anymore and LED doesnt light, just flash a while(orange) every ~1 minute.
-i cant get to recovery mode because uploading via TFTP doesnt succeedded
-the last solution i have found is get SERIAL to TTL converter, but i cant find this anywhere in my country

So i am very disapointed. I wait so long for any response from your team and the result is that i have bricked Unifi.
