I was excited about switching my RT-n15 over to DD-wrt but little did I know how bad it actually was going to be. I don't use the router for much but even the basics don't work properly. As AP mode the wireless drops frequently where my WRT54GS is only G but does not drop. Port forward does not work correctly. If I check if the port is open from lets say www.whatsmyip.org/ports it says it's open but any service will never connect. The only way I could get into the network would be to use the built in VPN feature then connecting. Local wired\wireless bandwidth would never exceed 5mbs for WAN access. WRT54GS I could get 25mbs easy. After being bummed out about all the fails i thought I could just use this as a repeater... nope! I get an ip address but no wan or lan access. In repeater mode the wireless site survey doesn't work. Client Bridge mode is missing. Repeater Client will never connect. Anyone coming across this wait until the basic bugs are fixed before loading. Stock at least works in most aspects.
I'd love to see this router get the DD-WRT improvements to make it flawless (mostly flawless)...
But alas for now, i'll stick with stock Firmware on it until I see that DD-WRT is more stable..hopefully one day soon it will be stable as can be and I can flash it.
Does this router have any known issues with the wireless radio encountering problems after prolonged use? I've had the N15 for over a year, and suddenly the wireless side has started dropping connection (or slowing down to a turtle speed)..but the wired side stays up and fine while the wifi side is doing this.
so I can be cat5 and surfing just fine, but at the same time using laptop wifi and slowly getting worse with connection.
