e1820 broadband usb stick on asus rt-n16 running build 14311

I have an e1820 broadband stick running on my laptop but when I insert into the USB port the blue light flickers but will not connect to the internet - any ideas how to solve this. The router will run using an e180 stick no probs so I know the USB port is operational and this build supports USB.

Upgrade your build, E1820 was not supported in r14311.

Thanks for the reply but what version supports the e1820? Also I am linking this to hotspot systems. Is the upgrade as stable as 14311?
