Loaded firmware from
ftp://dd-wrt.com/others/eko/BrainSlayer-V24-preSP2/2011/06-14-11-r17201/Belkin-F5D8235-4_v2/
Flashed by first doing 30/30/30, then flashing through Belkin interface
with original-to-dd-wrt.bin, then 30/30/30,
then Belkin-F5D8235-4v2-webflash.bin through web interface.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Initially setup as a wired repeater. Used access point wireless mode, connected
LAN port to another router, configured LAN addresses. Worked fine.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Decided to try out the wireless repeater mode.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Repeater Mode
Wireless Physical Interface
Wireless Mode: Repeater
Wireless Network Mode: Mixed (same as main AP)
Wireless Network Name: (Main AP SSID)
Wireless SSID Broadcast: Disable (same as main AP, works both ways)
Network Configuration: Bridged
Wireless Security: WPA2 (same as main AP)
WPA Password: (same as main AP)
Virtual Interface 1
Wireless Network Name: Different from main AP
Wireless SSID Broadcast: (works both ways)
Network Configuration: Bridged
Wireless Security: WPA2 and no security both work
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Other Notes:
Mac Filtering will not function properly on repeaters virtual interface.
There is no option in Mac Filter to select the virtual interface. Must
use the physical interface of the repeater if Mac Filtering is required.
Using a virtual wireless connection as the main AP doesn't work. |
