Hi, i have a D-Link DIR-615 with Firmware: DD-WRT v24-sp2 (11/21/10) std, and every night at about 00:00 the internet connection it's reseted.
Internet connection it's used as a PPPoE. Can anyone give me a hint why is this happening? Or what can i do so the internet can stay online for more than 24 hours?
It's not an ISP problem... it's from router. Thanks!
What should i upgrade? I have the latest fimrware, my router is a D-Link DIR-615 rev D1 and i have the firmware DD-WRT v24-sp2 (11/21/10) std (SVN revision 15778) wich is the latest one as i can see.
Oh thank you very much joecop67. I just upgraded my Firmware: DD-WRT v24-sp2 (03/19/12) std. Hope everything will be ok.
But where can i see when an update appears? On the main page of dd-wrt for D-Link DIR-615 D1 doesn't appear this fw.
Thank you again.
After the upgrade to latest fw on DIR-615 (Firmware: DD-WRT v24-sp2 (03/19/12) std), it keeps reseting... every 24 hours, arround 12:00AM the internet connection (PPPoE) resets. Why is this happening? Thanks!

please explain what you mean by your pppoe connection gets reset..
does your wan ip change? do you have to manually reconnect?
If the router reconnects on its own, how long does it take?
on the wan status page, what does is show for remaining lease time?
I had a pppoe connection for years (dhcp now) and never saw this problem (broadcom hardware though).
I know the router commits traff data to nvram every day at midnight (+/- a few seconds) but that does not reset anything. _________________ [Moderator Deleted]
Thanks for replying barryware.
I use Connection Type PPPoE and yes, my WAN ip changes every night at 00:00. It connects automatically and it takes about 3-5 seconds to reconnect.
On the wan status page the remaining lease time doesn't appear. All i have is:
Connection Type PPPoE
Login Status Connected
Connection Uptime 17:07:42 (as you can see in Romania it's 5:13 PM so the reset was at 00:05)
IP Address 188.27.39.166
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.255
Gateway 10.0.0.1
DNS 1 213.154.124.221
DNS 2 193.231.252.221

Maybe try some of the following to see if it is the router. I don't think it is but who knows.
Does your wan ip change if you disconnect / reconnect?
turn off ntp, and manually set the time on the router. Set it for 2 ~ 3 hours ahead of the correct time and see if it disconnects at the fake midnight.
I need to go through my logs, but when trying to troubleshoot a pixelserv problem (going through the logs), I did notice that dd-wrt also refreshes the time (which is a fairly new feature). I need to check and see when that happens.
Also turn off traff monitoring. As said, traff data gets committed to nvram at midnight.
Naturally, do these things one at a time. If you do more than one thing at a time, if you find that it is the router, you won't know what is causing it (traff data commit, time refresh, etc). _________________ [Moderator Deleted]
Yes, my ip changes when i disconnect/reconnect the WAN connection.
I've turned off ntp, manually set the time to 23:59 and at 00:05 the internet connection got disconnected and after 5 seconds connected with new wan ip.
I've set the WAN Traffic Counter (ttraff Daemon) to DISABLED and again set the time to 23:59... the same situation.
Any other ideea please? Thank you! Do you need Telnet acces to router to check something or...?

Well.. It does sound like it is the router stopping / starting a service that renews your wan connection. I can't help because I have never had the problem. I was just trying to help you figure out what..
Maybe dmesg can help you see what is starting / stopping at midnight.
I use a freeware program called wallwatcher. It logs all system messages as well as all firewall activity on a pc. Maybe use wallwatcher to display system messages from the router. _________________ [Moderator Deleted]
