I used the ASUS FW recovery app. Router was in recovery mode. W7 firewall disabled. Did NOT set static IP. Halfway thru upload, FW app halted, said "lost connection". Fortunately did not brick the device. Is static IP necessary?

Same result when using the app to install latest ASUS FW. Finally I was able to update the router via the browser interface. Can dd-wrt trx be installed via the browser?

I was able to flash dd-wrt. Logged in Win7 using an admin acct, set static IP 192.168.1.2, and used the firmware restoration util from the ASUS CD.
