So, begrudgingly I make this post, after exhausting all solutions posted on here already. So first a brief description of the problem.

Using Linksys e2500 on a 20mbit home connection. On computers connected via LAN speeds are 35mbps/6mbps (they have always been above what we are supposed to get)

However via wireless, speeds are maybe 4mbps/6mbps. So over both LAN and wireless upload speeds are good, but on wireless download, speeds are very poor.

Specs:

Linksys e2500 (bought refurbished from Newegg) with the 18946 big nv60k build.

Useful info:

I flashed the trailed (mini-e2500) build first, then the 18774 build. Then upgraded to see if that fixed the problem, it did not.

Did 30/30/30 before and after each re-flash

Waited 10 minutes after starting upgrade to mess with router.

Things I have tried:

Using different wireless modes (G,NG,N)
Manually setting MIMO transfer rates, this causes wireless computers to drop the signal.
Different radio power settings
Different Channels (6,9,11)
Changing MTU size (causes dropped signal)
Different Channel Width
Power cycling, and more 30/30/30 resets
QOS is disabled
Disabled ipv6 (made slower)

And probably other things that I cannot remember.

I know that people have this router working with good speeds even without 5Ghz support. I should easily be able to max out 35mbps.

So I beseech you more knowledgeable than I, to help me defeat this stubborn router.

Thanks

Two things,

First enable bluetooth co-existance mode in advanced wireless settings... set it to preemptive

then goto administration execute commands and type this and run:

wl -i eth1 interference 2

let me know how that works

That helped some. Downloads via speedtest.net were 3.4mbps instead of 3.3.

Do those settings require a reboot?

Forgot to mention make sure preamble is set to auto or short, that will get max performance .

Done, and it didn't help. Still around 3.4mbps down and the usual 5-6mbps up. Got any more tricks?

normally a slow download is channel or interference related.. A couple of questions.

What is the speed of your broadband?
What type of network card is the client?
What is your RSSI/Noise when you goto status/wireless in the GUI

Speed is 35mbps/6mbps (this is what we get on the computer connected to the e2500 via ethernet)

Wireless adapter in client is EnGenius EUB9603H (was able to max out download ie 35mbps download on our Comcast router/gateway)

Noise is -90

I checked out that device for 36 bucks on newegg for 600mw that is pretty cool. I fired up my e2500 tonight and tested with a engenuis client simular to yours

here was my test results.... I was factory defaulted running a trailed build of dd-wrt 19273

If you would like to test a trailed build if you think it would work better in your application we can take this to pm.

I'm having a hard time finding that 19273 trailed build. Do you have a link?

I am in the *exact* same boat as xDGDZEx. I have tried more things then I can even remember, including resetting several times. I have two laptops and two cell phones all giving me < 1.5Mb/s speed with a 30+Mb/s internet connection.

It's so bad that the only time I allow my cell phone to connect to wifi is if I need to download something more than my carrier likes.

I am open to trying anything at this point.

As a side note, I am running two e2500's, both dd-wrt'd, with the second in client-bridge mode.

Oh and I tried Fractal's instructions above, but with no success.

I am pm'ing you (Fractal) now. Thanks for all you are doing!!!

Well, I am now running the Trailed 19298 build. Things are looking better so far:

Interestingly, my up speed is only 3mb/s instead of 6...

My wired connection is netting 62mb/s down and 6mb/s up.

I'll let you know if this stays consistent.

Seeing the exact same issue on 2 E3000s since Friday. I've been using Tomato or DD-WRT for years and never had this issue. On wired connections or a test Belkin wireless I can get a normal 30/5 consistently. However on the E3000s with Tomato, DD-WRT, and Linksys 2.4GHz averages 1-3 Down/3-5 Up and 5.8GHz averages 17/3-5. I've tried re flashing, switching firmwares, and scouring the house for interference. Will try my E2000 tomorrow and the E4200 in a few days. This is just really odd.
