I have heard that the WR1043ND does not provide enough power to the USB port for pretty much every USB device that isn't a flash drive.
With that said, any incompatibilities that one has with a USB device and this particular TP-Link router could potentially be resolved simply by using a powered USB hub.
Doing so will provide the extra power that your device needs to function properly. COMMON devices that suck up a lot of juice are wireless devices, such as modems and Wi-Fi dongles.
So, in short, if you are experiencing issues with any of the aforementioned device types, and your device IS on the compatibility list, the first thing you should try is connecting the device through a POWERED USB hub. _________________ WRT54GS v2.1
