Yes, repeater bridge. That's not a bad idea, if I can't get better speeds, I will try client bridge. I don't absolutely need access points all over the house.
Edit:
So I just wasted hours and hours of time trying to get one of my e3200's to become a client bridge. It would do it, but on reboot it would go into an unknown state and I would have to reset (using the button) and then start all over again. Tried a 30/30/30 with no success, the darn thing just hates client bridge mode! Finally put it back to repeater bridge and it's working again now. So I have one e3200 as a client bridge, one as the stock router and one as a repeater bridge now. I also made the 54g a client bridge, and it seems to be doing fine too. Left the stock at 20/40Mhz auto (there is no "40Mhz only" mode). Am getting close to 30Mbs now on transfers between the two e3200 bridges, and about 40Mbs on the e3200 client bridge to pc connected directly to the stock router. So definitely an improvement but still not where I would want it to be.
I still cannot get the bridges to connect to the router at anything above 144, which is really frustrating. The repeater bridge is practically in the same room as stock router, so I can't figure out what the hell is going on with this. I feel if I could get that working perhaps I would be experiencing 50+ Mbs via bridge to bridge. One can dream!
Whenever I try the upgrade in the web frontend, it starts out fine, but then I get a "connection reset" message by my browser after about 2s. Judging by the LEDs, the router doesn't reset and when I reconnect, I'm still looking at 17201 mini.
my e3200 just keeps rebooting, can you help to check what's wrong, and what should i do.
i use a usb-ttl wire under CFE
and flash with lastest fireware 1.04 by "upgrade code.bin". then it showed upgrade successfully. but it still keeps rebooting.
here is the info i copied from serial port.

I am completely unqualified to answer this, but you did try a 30/30/30 reset right? I'm guessing if you did that and it hasn't fixed your problem, and there isn't enough time to try to get it to load another firmware, you're up s-creek my friend!

finally tried a 3rd party firmware, tomato firmware for e3200. and it is amazing that tomato firmware can work. then i flash back offical firmware, it just begin to reboot repeatly.
i check the ssid in the nvram info, and found each time i flash the firmware, the nvram info did update, meaning not related to nvram.
now i think the problem is the offical firmware. it is such a irony that i have to use a 3rd party firmware instead of offical firmware.
the problem is that i need a 5G router, so i bought this e3200, and i can only use 3rd party firmware which can not support 5Ghz.
The quality of cisco just let me down. it is not as it used to be.
Maybe everyone of us should send a mail to Linksys or Broadcom? _________________ Linksys E3200
