pptp is odd microsoft crap. today they recommending l2tp.
openvpn is quite different.
Yes i know the difference, doesn't matter though, its all part of the VPN suite that is in dd-wrt, and that's just once example link, there have been many people saying openvpn itself has been non-functional since after 18024, thus why the 18024 build is what i linked into the wiki, when i read of it working properly and the trac tickets fixed, and i mean all aspects of the dd-wrt VPN system - even compatibility with odd micrsoft crap, i'll edit the links for the update, till then 18024 will remain.
Hoping someone can help me out here, but is there a problem with the WZR-HP-AG300H and virtual interfaces repeating a client bridged connection? And how do I fix this on newer builds?
I was using the stock buffalo professional firmware (17132) before, but since I was already on DD-WRT on the other routers in my house (WNDR3700 as an access point) I upgraded to 19342. I can use my router as a client bridge just fine, but when I try to set up the repeater using the virtual interface I will get kicked off the network altogether. This happens with both SSID the same and different. I downgraded to 18777 and it didn't seem to help. Tried WEP and WPA2-Personal and it didn't help either.

Thanks!!
So basically, you are running it as a repeater? There is a trac ticket open with claims of anytime a VAP is activated that it breaks everything, i have a wzr-hpag300h as my main AP and a wzr-hp-g300nh that i run 19342 on and run it as a repeater and have no problems with it, so i can't say i'm having that problem, the VAP is however reporting incorrect values in my status, but still works.

Exactly the problem I'm having, AP stops working altogether when using VAP is active and channel width is set to dynamic/turbo. Looking to see if WDS fixes this or not.
EDIT: not a bit of difference with WDS at first. But somehow if I went from full bandwidth to turbo on WDS it worked again. Nothing shows up on either router under wireless status, but it just works?? Though not a single ath0 wireless status seems to show up in either of the routers status pages. I have an internet connection with WDS at least on the WDS Station router.

root@DD-WRT:~# grep -e 80211 -e ath
Last command here seems to hang my router until I CTRL-C
Adding vap failed when bandwidth was set to turbo/dynamic. my WNDR3700 doesn't support 'tcpdump' for some reason when I type it in. How long do I record for on the other router and what am I looking for specifically. Just type in the command and try to record what's going on when I enable the AP?
The DHCP request/reply look okay on the WDS station router now with no checksum problems since I switched to WDS (unless I'm reading this wrong), but setting up my VAP on the station still doesn't work. Wifi analyzer on my phone doesn't show the VAP SSID being broadcast at all.
Any ideas? 17201 seems to be the last build where everything worked correctly.
