Hi all, I've been away from forums for a while, and it's great to see so many of you are still around
Before I go and do something silly, I'd like check a couple of points regarding the e3000, and to get some advise on which stable-ish build to use to get the latest OpenVPN GUI. (I use router for basic home network and want my wife to be able to VPN into her home machine from work).
I'm currently running the recommended mega 14929 build, but the newer OpenVPN GUI seems to make the whole process much simpler so I'd like to give that a bash.
1) From the wiki, it seems as if I'm going to have to flash BS 16994 e2k-e3k to prepare for the new -nv60k type builds.
2) And then I can flash the appropriate mega -nv60k build.
3) Once I've done that I'm going to have to add the NAT loopback fix to the firewall script.
4) I use PPPOE to connect to ISP so that's a must have.
Is that correct? Anything else I should do or be aware of?
And which mega build do you recommend for OpenVPN? (The usual disclaimers apply: I know they're test builds and on mine own head be it).

If you are going for a 'VPN' build, I would really suggest Kong's mod. Kong has compiled it (based off of DD-WRT) with a few modifications and has optimized it for speed. I have had no complaints with it.
18730M is reputed as the most stable Kong build. Some say that 18050M has better VPN than 18730, although I thought that the problems with VPN came after SVN 18777 (an openssl update which fails on MIPS). 3 times Linksys WRT610N V2 converted to E3000 and 1 original E3000 running freshtomato 2020.8 (bridged with LAN cable)
I think it's the former I want, as the latter is more for initial flashing?
Use the e2k-e3k file only if it has been already flashed with DD-WRT. The file ending in e3000.bin is for initial flashing. _________________ 2 times APU2 Opnsense 21.1 with Sensei
