I have the same question. It looks like the easiest solution.

BTW how to compile ipk packages from source and where is the source? It looks simple too.

i try to compile some packages but i need mips architecture, not mipsel, i follow this tutorial!

you try to build packages from src/router?
edit file src/router/.config and set PLATFORM!
