Hello Dear forum members.
**This post may seem long and off-topic. please read to the END
I have read the stickies and announcments!
* I must state that i live in Israel. returning units is a pain
my ISP connects me using l2tp. this connection add me high QOS, but it does not work in Israel due to differences in the protocol itself. due to heavy difficulty with the gear that the ISP supplies
(unable to hold connection of 30Mbit/s Download 1.5Mbit/s Upload) I bought a TP-Link 1043ND two units i received were diagnosed defective as i could not establish a connection.
I decided I would buy a Linksys / Cisco router and phoned technical support to ask about the L2TP capabilities of the router. I was told that the router can hold 80Mbit/s on L2TP
However, my connection drops to half the speed. so i decided to change my connection type to DHCP and make it a bit cheaper.
since DHCP is supported by dd-wrt i would like to know if there is a way to brick the router (E1200 V2)
to avoid it. i did not find any topics about that (the only notice i found was to wait 10 minutes after flash).
what build is recommended as stable?
what is the recommended TX Power?
Thanks for your time. I am not a complete newbie, had some experience with dd-wrt. as far as i understand, I must use a build newer than K26 build 18946. if it`s not hard for you, please provide me with the link to the most stable build as I have trouble reading mass information topics like you posted (I have read all of them before, still confused)

I don't know which is the most stable build for it. Builds 19xxx and 20xxx are kind of experimental, so I do not advise them, unless you know how to unbrick your device.
Use a build with E1200 in its name for initial flashing, afterwards use nv64k builds for flashing, of course higher or equal to the minimal build number required for it. A V2 has 8 MB flash memory, so you could flash it with a big or mega build, subsequently. (If it is a V1 this will brick it.)
These being said, follow the customary procedure for flashing DD-WRT, e.g. look at http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Linksys_E4200 for some inspiration (but use the builds as I pointed above, do not use nv60k builds). _________________ 2 times APU2 Opnsense 21.1 with Sensei

in-case something happens, what is the procedure of unbricking? what is the worst case (not in terms of what happens but how to fix it)
how easy can i brick my device?
does unbricking involves opening the device
Well, when flashing there is always a risk of bricking your device. I don't know exactly how to unbrick an E1200, read the Peacock announcement. If in doubt, don't flash, that's always safer. _________________ 2 times APU2 Opnsense 21.1 with Sensei

thanks for the info, unfortunately i recently bricked a tp-link 1043nd so i will have to wait untill somebody puts a wiki but it`s nice to know the device is supported.

I installed the 19342 builds, the e1200 initial and the generic n64 big build(DD-WRT v24-sp2 (06/08/12) big - build 19342). I have not used any of the advanced features but DHCP, sshd, dnsmasq, and the other basics are solid so far.
