Hey Guys

I'm new to the dd-wrt forums.
I've been researching setting up a router with dd-wrt firmware. There are only going to be 2 or 3 users on the network, so quite small!

My aim is to do bandwidth quota and content filtering. This is because the download limit keeps getting reached and the ISP has an excess charge. Also want to keep as much undesirable content off the network as possible (adult content, drugs etc).

Is this something that's going to be possible with dd-wrt firmware or am I asking too much?

Also I've initially chosen the Buffalo WHR-300HP because I hear Buffalo tend to come with a lot of memory and flash onboard and that is vital to a more stable implementation.

So my questions are:
- can I do content filtering with dd-wrt?
- can I do bandwidth quota limits with dd-wrt?
- Is the WHR-300HP supported by dd-wrt?
- Is there a better modem or firmware I should use, eg D-Link or gargoyle?

Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards
Aaron

yes, your device is supported. Read QOS for quota. For content filtering use Opendns.

Hey yousaf465 thanks for your reply Smile

when you say "Read QOS for quota" do you mean read the Buffalo manual?

I haven't used Opendns before, is it a subscription service?

Kind Regards

for opendns read http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/OpenDNS

Opendns is free for most purposes.
