bought Rosewill L600N for a week. Does anyone know DD-WRT could support it?

Check the website below says its BCM5358, any chance?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833166081

Thanks! Very Happy

Yes dd-wrt support is possible but one of the dd-wrt developers will need to get a donated router on his table.

dd-wrt does currently not have a working driver for the 5GHz radio but work is being done so it may soon be supported.

I also just bought one of these on the Black Friday sale so +1.

Here's the specs from WikiDev.
- 500MHz Broadcom BCM5358 CPU
- Memory: 8 MB flash and 64 MB RAM

Looks like a really good router and there are other routers using the same chipset that are already supported.
Is there any chance that we could steal the code for those?

It is usually Eko doing the Broadcom ports (he is in Slovenia) but if you are in the U.S then it might be an idea to pm fractal (in U.S) and ask him if he is willing to do it, he has done a few Broadcom ports with help of Eko in the past.
It would save you the freight cost to Slovenia which is higher than the routers retail price..

Greetings!

I too just bought a Rosewill L600N and would love to see DD-WRT support. On paper the L600N specs are amazing for a model of this class (although the case design makes it look like it came from the 80's ie. those old set top cable boxes) and so far it's running like a champ. I'm already thinking of getting a second one as a bridge for my home network.

Just a FYI Rosewill seems to be the house brand for Newegg.

I bought an L600N during Black Friday. Didn't have time to set it up until now though. Does anyone know if it can function like a bridge with stock firmware? I looked through the setting but couldn't find any options for it.

i second that emotion. i'd love to get it working. it shows up on Shibbys supported router list for the tomato mod, perhaps dd-wrt will allow it also... one hopes.

There is a Shibby Tomato buld but flashing it has been an issue so far. From another forum...

Quote:

My goal here is get a third-party firmware working on the router and to assist in anyway that I can without bricking the router since I have neither the tools nor experience to use jtag or serial at this time to restore it.

Unable to flash this firmware, extensive details provided below:

Trying to flash using the web GUI it gives an "Invalid flash image!" error message, changing the name and the extention to .img which is what the stock firmware uses gives the error "Unable to update!". When the router is placed in recovery mode by holding down the reset button and pluging it in there is a special firmware page that is available even though the router can not be pinged which does not requie a password and appears as follows:

"
Update Software

Step 1: Obtain an updated software image file from your ISP.

Step 2: Enter the path to the image file location in the box below or click the "Browse" button to locate the image file.

Step 3: Click the 'Update Software'button once to upload the new image file.

NOTE: The update process takes about 3 minutes to complete, and your DSL Router will reboot.
"

Using that page regardless of naming convention yeilds the error message: "Checksum validation failed! You should translate image again!"

There does not appear to be a running tftpd server on the router though the binary is there.

There is telnet access available after the router is booted into normal run mode. The user name is root and the password is root. It has a working tftp client available and I presume that I could flash by using that to put the image in /tmp, I am not comfortable doing so with the checksum failing unless I can be assured by you that it doesn't matter and is not a sign that it is incompatible in some way as I am currently assuming.

Looks like we could enable the tftpd server for an update as well, possibly.

Hmm, someone is scamming someone here, because the box says its the 5358U which has 3G/4G support, I can't find any real information on the 5357 rev 2 but the 5357 does not show to have the 3G/4G support.
