ive seen the talk of a tomato firmware with 5ghz for the e3200. Also somebody mentioned that the e2700 uses the same chip, and somebody is working on getting the 5ghz radio working. considering the length of time that support has been available in ddwrt for this router, is anyone working on the 5ghz radio for ddwrt?

just for info for you ddwrt developers (i personally dont have a clue about how to develop), this guy apparently has a tomato build with 5ghz support

http://tomato.groov.pl/?page_id=78

[RELEASE] 104

- Support 2nd radio (5GHz) using wl_high module for router Asus RT-N53, Linksys E2500 and E3200

If this is the case, is this not possible to add to ddwrt?

192 views and not one response? has DDWRT been abandoned, or is there nobody who is kind enough to help with 5ghz support for this device?

For anyone that is interested, for this particular router (and possibly many more), drop ddwrt and head to tomato. Installed the shibby build 1.8 and my 5ghz works absolutely fine. Its a real shame as ive used ddwrt for years. i think i may also move my e3000 over to this tomato shibby build too.

Many thanks ddwrt dev's for your many builds that have provided me with much more functionality, however tomato dev's appear to be happier to resolve issues like this usb to wireless problem which has ddwrt devs stumped.

the better solution would be for one of the dev's to very kindly add support for the 5ghz radio. From what i can see, there is a thread back in 2012 talking about the drivers now being available, however nobody has been kind enough to add support, and i dont think they ever will.

Rather than lack of motivation, I think the linksys drivers have been problematic.

Perhaps someone should speak to shibby, or look at tomato, as they have it working just fine.

Here is the website. http://tomato.groov.pl/

The newest build is v112. You can download it from the website I linked you to. Or here is the direct link.

So, for those who're still wanting to use DD-wrt on our e2500's, any news on getting the 5ghz working?

I don't mean to bump this thread without much substance to add, but I'd just like to thank bouncy for his persistence in finding an answer and gpzbc for the link. The help is extremely appreciated! I too have an E2500 and wanted DD-WRT, but was also concerned about the lack of 5GHz support. Now I can't wait to implement Tomato tomorrow and see if I can optimize my network any more than I could with the stock firmware. I've been having some issues with wireless speed and stability, even when the wired connection is working fine, so hopefully this will give me some more room to troubleshoot! Mr. Green

Tomato and DD-WRT use very different methods of building/integrating the broadcom wireless driver as far as I know, but this should be fixable in DD-WRT since DD-WRT has access to proprietary broadcom resources. Probably just some config that needs to be changed in the driver build.
