No problem here, if you successfully install a prior build, you can then upgrade to a newer build from DDWRT that would normally have been blocked from the stock TP-Link Firmware

Maybe it is because I'm a newbie, but I can't find this version in Other Downloads Sad

When I will find it, what is the best method to install and update in this case?

Thank you

I'm sure there are other builds that work, but you can find 19342 here:
ftp://dd-wrt.com/others/eko/BrainSlayer-V24-preSP2/2012/06-08-12-r19342/tplink_tl-mr3420/

3220 is interchangeable with 3420

I have tried this .bin but the result is the same:
Error code: 18005
Upgrade unsuccessfully because the version of the upgraded file was incorrect. Please check the file name.

My router is:

Firmware Version:
3.13.1 Build 121123 Rel.57760n
Hardware Version:
MR3220 v1 00000000

BTW thank you

No problem! I am also extremely ecstatic that I've finally been able to get a Verizon 3G USB stick to work with DD-WRT and the very cheap and effective TP-Link MR3220 !!

I literally spent 2 weeks straight trying to do this last year and had given up. But now the world is a beautiful sunny place again Very Happy

Hi,

I have the same firmware

Firmware Version:
3.13.1 Build 121123 Rel.57760n
Hardware Version:
MR3220 v1 00000000

and downloaded from the ftp://dd-wrt.com/others/eko/BrainSlayer-V24-preSP2/2012/06-08-12-r19342/tplink_tl-mr3420/

but still get error code: 18005

gialandra, what did you do to make it work? You have two consecutive posts, one with still having problem, than it's fixed in the next post but you did not tell how you've fixed it.

How did you solve it?

I emailed gia a bin file that works, and then from that bin file you can load any compatible version of DD-WRT you want

The file is called exactly 3220-factory-to-ddwrt.bin

This is DD-WRT v24-sp2 (06/08/12) std - build 19342

I got that file from this site last year but for some reason can't locate it anymore. I have it on my PC it's almost 4 MB

1. Download this file
2. reset router default
3. Flash factory-to-ddwrt.bin (Spidex font)
4. reset router defaults
5. Flash tl-mr3420-webflash.bin (last version)
6. Enjoy

Hey guys, I'm unfortunately having the same issue. Error code 18005 when installing factory-to-ddwrt.bin

I have tried every single solution in this thread without success.

I tried all the different stock versions from TP-Link and every single bin from all folders since 2012.

Any other solutions you guys can think of?

try rolling back to an earlier tp-link stock firmware first, then upgrade to an old ddwrt distrib, then upgrade to the current distrib
