Hello there.

Just flashed v24 preSP2 to a TL-WR1043ND as prescribed in the router's database.

My intention is to use a 3G modem as WAN.

To do this, I sat WAN as 3G, I entered APN parameters, then I enabled all USB support and JFFS2 support.

I tried 5 USB modems, noone can connect.

Anything missed?

How can I know id the modem is identified?

How can I manage the connection?

Thanks everybody!

I have heard that the WR1043ND does not provide enough power to the USB port for pretty much every USB device that isn't a flash drive.

With that said, any incompatibilities that one has with a USB device and this particular TP-Link router could potentially be resolved simply by using a powered USB hub.

Doing so will provide the extra power that your device needs to function properly. COMMON devices that suck up a lot of juice are wireless devices, such as modems and Wi-Fi dongles.

So, in short, if you are experiencing issues with any of the aforementioned device types, and your device IS on the compatibility list, the first thing you should try is connecting the device through a POWERED USB hub.

Details will yield the best answers, what does the below command say about your modem??

cat /proc/bus/usb/devices
