I just bought a TP-LINK TL-WR1043ND rev 1.10 and serial number starting with 1.2XXXXXX, and I flashed the latest dd-wrt (07-24-2013-r22118) that supposedly fixes the no-WAN problem that everyone had before.

I followed the 30/30/30 rule to avoid problems.

I still have no WAN port... I have read different and confusing posts, some saying that you DO need to downgrade before the upgrade to activate the WAN port, some that you DON'T...

I started up from the latest available version on TP-Link's website (wr1043nv1_en_3_13_13_up_boot(130428)).

So, can anyone point me on the right direction on what to do from my current status (DD-WRT v24-sp2 (07/24/13) std)?[/b]

I read on a how to install DD-WRT on a TP-Link TL-WR1043ND page, see link below, that for serial numbers starting with 12 you need to flash a different "boot specific" firmware version first, and then DD-WRT.

I can't vouch for it, but feel free to try it. Read the first couple of comments below the article for a little more info on the inbetween firmware.

Hi,
I just installed DD-WRT r22118 (2013.07.24 - latest currently available) on my TP-LINK TL-WR1043ND v1.11 with serial starting with 13 (S/N: 13xxxxxx) and latest TP-LINK FW (v3.13.13 Build 130428 Rel.58290n).
My steps where (after I removed router from packing):
1) 30-30-30
2) flashed factory-to-ddwrt.bin
3) 30-30-30
For now it works like a charm for whole day. Also WAN worked without any extra reflashing or configuration. Hope will not get any problems in the future.

As I could't find any info about that this will work (WAN issue), I risked and did it. Hope this will help somebody with similar questions as I had when got this brand new TP-LINK router Smile
