I have a confused WR850G here that I'd like to change firmware on.
On powerup, it responds to pings on 192.168.10.1 as it should.
Problem is, I am running linux, and don't have tftp.
What's the problem with installing tftp? If you're running a Debian derivative run apt-get install tftp with root privs or if you're using an RPM based distro use the native package manager to install it; if none of the above applies to you then find the source and compile it.
Hmm.. I didn't realize it was available for linux. Ok, then I can do it from this machine after I reconfigure. That one dosen't have tftp yet, and won't have net access until I can get the router up and running DD-WRT, but this one will do.
dave@silmarillion:~$ tftp -i 192.168.10.1 put fw.bin
usage: tftp host-name [port]
Umm.. Now what?
I renamed the file to fw.bin, as I've done before on winDOHs machines.
The rest is literally cut and pasted from the wiki.
I can ping the router for a few seconds, then it goes off and does whatever they do in this state, but tftp doesn't seem to work quite the same in linuxland.
