Hey guys, I recently bought a Netgear WNR2000 v3 router cause the wifi at my college dorm room is really crappy, and there are only two ethernet ports available to use in my room. I figured if I shared the ethernet ports over wifi, and cloned my computer's MAC address, the university would be none the wiser to me having my own access point, which is technically against policy. Anyways, I tried out DD-WRT for the MAC cloning reason, and it works beautifully on my PC, but my android tablet and android phone have a horrible time connecting to the internet using the same AP. I figure if I try to reload stock firmware, I can try it out on that and see what happens. The only problem is the web interface for upgrading firmware won't work for me with the official netgear image, and I can't figure out how to get the TFTP flasher to work. Does anyone have any insights on what I must do in order to get stock firmware back? Thanks guys.
Thanks, sorry if I seem stupid, I'm new to custom router firmwares. I got the stock firmware to flash via TFTP, but when I access the web GUI, it's still on DD-WRT. What am I doing wrong?
I think I understand what is going on now. The firmware gets to the router, but doesn't flash cause it doesn't pass a test to see if it is compatible. I know I have to use a serial port to flash it now, but I'm not sure how to go about that. Is there an adapter sold somewhere that plugs from the computer to the serial plugs or do I have to make it myself. I looked around but I didn't find anything about where to buy such an adapter or how to make one.
