I had openwrt on but had problems with the distro so I flashed it with factory to ddwrt first.

That Worked without issues. I then tried to flash it with wr741nd firmware and that bricked the router. No life signs on serial console at all and only pwr led on.

So question:
I unsoldered the serial flash and I'm going to reflash it via programmer (rPi + some electronics). Any1 knows if there is any special rule how the program must be programmed into the chip or is just as simple as flashing the whole bin file from the beginning to the end?

If the bin file you have is a wholeflash containing boot loader, firmware, caldata, and nvram then you can program it directly at start address 0 in the flash.

A wholeflash is a file either read out directly from the flash of another 741 v4.3 or a file which you have built from the parts I mentioned above.

got another v4.3 router and I was able to read the SPI flash. All I need to do now is to write the other one and re-assemble it to test it. stay tuned Smile

Fixed the router Very Happy

I flashed the chip with orifginal firmware but replaced the mac address and PIN locations with the broken router. I'm reflashing it now with ddwrt via TP-LINK pages
