I can confirm that the 2013 build factory-to-ddwrt.bin and its associated file

http://dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/downloads/betas/2013/05-27-2013-r21676/tplink_tl-wr841ndv8/tl-wr841nd-webflash.bin

bricked my router again when I flashed the first file.

After I unbricked it, I then tried to flash the 2014 version at
http://dd-wrt.com/site/support/other-downloads?path=others%2Feko%2FBrainSlayer-V24-preSP2%2F

and both files flashed with no problem. I have had a quick look and everything seems to be working okay.

Off to bed now. Will look more closely tomorrow.

Goodnight !!!!!!!

Please test the speed if it is 300mbps or 144mbps.
Try to clobe mac address and see if it is works. Try to change wireless mac in mac clone menu.
Try client mode and client + vap (atheros repeater)
what is the mac addresses of router after flashing ?
How is the level of the signal ?
Please upload some screenshot of ddwrt interface
Try to turn off wireless with the jumper near the reset\qss button and see if it is works ?

Thanks !

What problem did the 2013 firmware print in serial console ?
Please upload full bootlog of ddwrt firmware which you are now using

Router is 300mbps. I did not copy he u-boot log of the ddwrt flash, but if you want to see it I can repeat the flash. I have not tried the router in "live" mode at the moment (am using a Belkin), but will probably start using it on Monday. Will upload some screenshots of the ddwrt i/f. I shan't play around with it much more as I will try to solve the original problem, which was to set it up as a VPN. For some reason, that both I and Hide My Ass support team could not fathom, this has proved difficult.

Have it working live, so far no problems. Speed shown is 144mbps and Tx is 20dbm (any channel). Let me know what ddwrt I/F you would like to see. LAN MAC address is 10:FE:ED:49:59:C0 .

Please try to change WAN and wireless mac addresses.
When some wireless client is connected please make image to see speeds.
Please try switch(TURN OFF and TURN ON) wireless with key which is near the reset button.
And if you can please tell some words about client/client bridge mode.

THANKS !

Waht do you think: is there any way to erase bootloader while flashing dd-wrt firmware ot if the router is bricked the bootloader is always working?

Thanks for your time while trying. In openwrt the wifi speed is 67mbps. DD-WRT is much better in wifi speed now. I wich soon to be faster up to 300mpbs with dd-wrt firmware on it Very Happy

It's my pleasure. I have a question: Does the dd-wrt firmware can damage the bootloader or you can always unbrick it via bootloader?

try this for VPN: http://www.howtogeek.com/51772/how-to-setup-a-vpn-server-using-a-dd-wrt-router/

I do not want to be cheeky I friday I will install dd-wrt on v8.4 using serial. Please test everything you know to friday and write if there are some bugs or crashes. This will be my first dd-wrt router so I will not to be disappointing from custom firmware.

THANKS FOR ALL !
