Hey guys, just wanted to share with you my Cisco E4200 V1 router that I modded. It has 35dBi total now and I can pick up the signal from about 3 blocks away.

It took me about a week to do this project and I used the following components:

E4200 V1 router - http://www.amazon.com/Cisco-Linksys-E4200-Dual-Band-Wireless-N-Router/dp/B004K1EZDS/ (check with sellers first to make sure its V1 and not V2).

Three RG316 RP-SMA cables http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GWC2LU2

Three RG178 IPX U.FL to RP-SMA http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00F6BS3AC

Two 9dBi antennas http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HY3HBGC

Two 6dBi antennas http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HY3HBF8

Two 2dBi antennas http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HY3HBHQ

Let me know if you guys have any questions.

It looks great except the 4th image is kinda blurred and it so hard to see clearly which Band those pigtail cables connected to. I think it will be nice if you can put some name or label in it.

Why bother doing this?

If the laptop/phone/computer receiving this signal cannot send it back as far, then you've pretty much just wasted your time....

Nice cooling mod. I'm sure if you keep it cool it'll last longer. I bet those antennas not only provide more tx gain, but also rx as well. That would likely help in receiving weaker signals from distant devices (concerning previous post).
Cell towers have some pretty huge antennas and can pickup your cell phone's weak signal from miles away.

I don't understand the 35dBi math...

2x 9dBi antennas do not result in 18dBi gain.
At best, 2x 9dBi will result in 12dBi gain.

The other set of antennas, I'm not sure they are even working on the same tx/rx branch.
