Hello new to forum
I have just flashed my wrt54GL's with dd-wrt(used recommended redhawk0 firmware BrainSlayer r14929).
My goal is to be able to have two computers be able to connect wirelessly long-range 300m to my outdoor barn with some directional antennas. Not sure what type of bandwidth I should expect but I had these and wanted to learn dd-wrt anyway. But for this setup I have one router as an AP and the other as client-mode as per the instructions in the wiki. For testing I use iperf and both ways I get around 15-16 Mbps when both routers are in the same small room. I was hoping for much better results with such close proximity. I will say this is better than what I was getting with openwrt 5-7 Mbps.
Are the results I am getting typical? What can I do to get better results settings wise? Is there another wifi router that is worth switching to in order get much better results? I would love around 30 Mbps. but I'd live with 20. I guess any recommended router would need replaceable antennae.
You won't get 30 with g routers. No way at all to do this. Wifi is bidirectional and maximum throughput is theoretical and needs to be halfed to deal with both directions. _________________ SIG:
