I'm using VPN from a remote location ddwrt client (192.168.2.1) to connect to my local ddwrt VPN server wndr3700 (192.168.1.2)

I'm using a TP-Link WR1043ND as my main internet gateway (192.168.1.1) on stock firmware as no stable ddwrt option yet for v2. It forwards the VPN server request to the wndr3700 router.

Remote Network: I can ping all local clients from remote destination as static route works perfect.

destination lan net 192.168.1.0
mask 255.255.255.0
gateway 192.168.1.1

Home Network: However when tried to ping remote clients from local network i get a TTL loopback.

i've set static routes at 1043nd (internet gateway) to point to my local vpn server

destination lan net 192.168.2.0
mask 255.255.255.0
gateway 192.168.1.2

and vpn server (192.168.1.2) route to

destination lan net 192.168.2.0
mask 255.255.255.0
gateway 192.168.2.1

I understand this is obviously leading to a loop. what i dont know is how do i setup static routing so I wont get a loop?

I've tried setting my 1043nd to point towards 192.168.2.1 but since it has no clue there is a VPN connection I get a wan ip destination not reachable error.

is there a way to setup static route which wont result in a loop?

is there a way my vpn server can directly point towards ppp0 instead of having to go through internet gateway and get pointed back at itself?
