Hey Folks,

I have installed dd-wrt on my WDR3600 router using the manual...two times hard reset (303030) and so on.

Configuration is as follows:
TPLINK TL-WDR3600 v1
Firmware Version
DD-WRT v24-sp2 (03/25/13) std - build 21061
Kernel Version
Linux 3.5.7 #6134 Mon Mar 25 07:09:54 CET 2013 mips

It works quite fine. But when I try to copy files > 50MB or multiple files straight afterwards the connection to the FTP closes and sometimes the router reboots afterwards.

I have tried it with to different HDDs. 500GB and 1,5TB NTFS.

This is quite annoying because I want to use the Router as a NAS, too.

I'd really appreciate your help.

Thanks in advance,
Alex

Wow...seems to depend on the NTFS File System.
With FAT32 it works.

Is there any chance to get it working with NTFS?

I've read a lot of workarounds but all of them are quite old so I don't know if they will cause more errors...

Please upgrade to build 22118 (07-24-2013-r22118):

Well I have updated to the version you mentioned.
No change.
But I think I have found the error.
Testing with slower uploading speeds I could see the problem rising.

In normal state the router has about 110MB free memory. After beginning to copy a file to the NTFS drive, the memory is getting filled.
After having copied 110MB to the memory the router runs out of memory and crashes.

So in my opinion the router forgets to write the files to the HDD or CF.

Could this be helpful to solve the problem? Or can anybody confirm it?

Thanks!

Newer Firmware, similar Problem. (See requirements below)

Now it is possible to copy large files. Free Memory decreases down to 5% and stays constantly until the large file (>1GB) is copied.

But if I copy many small files, the Free Memory decreases down to 0%, then the router crashes and reboots.

Is there now any workaround for that? Isn't it possible to limit the memory used for file copy actions?

Thank you!

Never tried using a HDD, but my WDR3600 has never had any problem with transferring large files to/from flash drives, i use samba and FTP servers.

Try connecting the drive to you computer and see if enabling/disabling disk write cache, has any effect on this issue.

Follow the instructions here: support.microsoft.com/kb/324805

Jap, seems to work. I had to enable the disk write cache to solve this issue. Thank you very much for this hint!!!

Works partially...crashes every few minutes :\
The difference is, that the router doesn't reset like before. Only the connection breaks down for a while...

"
Could not write to transfer socket: ECONNRESET - Connection reset by peer
"

In addition, the web interface is veeeeery slow and crashes as well while copying. Is it possible that the FTP/Samba stuff really challenges the router?

Bad news...installed
Code:
DD-WRT v24-sp2 (12/11/14)
(SVN revision 25628)
few days ago.

Still periodic crashes while copying files to FTP. Wifi+LAN still works, but Webinterface+Ftp+Telnet crahses and needs 1-2minutes to be up again.

Any ideas?
Is there any chance to limit the Memory & CPU for FTP?

Thanks Smile

PS:
The image shows the CPU&RAM usage before it crashes...
