And there are no specific instructions for the router I have.
the build the wiki tells me to use ( BrainSlayer-V24-preSP2 › 2013 › 11-07-2013-r22761 › buffalo_whr_300hp2)
has two files which i believe are of my interest:
firmware-us.bin
buffalo_whr_300hp2-webflash.bin
My question is, should i use the firmware-us.bin and TFTP flash, as the buffalo guide suggests, or can the webflash.bin be used for first time installs of ddwrt via stock firmware?
(I think the webflash version is only for upgrading from an older version of DDWRT?)
But then why would there be a webflash version if this is the version the wiki says to use..
Sorry if this topic has been already discussed, i've spent lots of time reading and have yet to find it.
I'm ordering a WHR-300HP2 router too and would love to hear any suggestion from experienced users here. But why don't you use one of the newer firmwares from here?

@MaddMartigan: thanks for the info. How's the new firmware so far? I'm using the v1.4 stock firmware. It works fine but streaming to Chromecast is really slow with random buffering intervals
I've had my Buffalo WHR-300HP2 running version 23720 std (3/13/14) for a couple of months now. Seems very stable. I have a Chromecast, and I haven't noticed any lag when streaming there or over my PCs. I've had several different routers, and I put this in to replace an ASUS RT-N16. While it doesn't do GB ethernet, the wireless performance/range seems much better.
I'm not a gamer, so I can't give you any idea about that. I stream video and audio, and surf.
It looks like Buffalo came out with a WHR-300HP2D. From what I can tell so far, it's the same router, just with a custom dd-wrt, for twice the $$.

Great! I'll try the same version this weekend
What are your wireless settings? Do you have to mess around with QoS or so on? Thanks again
