I used info compiled from other sources & my own screen captures. (thank you to RjG)
Don't forget to hit apply after changing settings.

I will link this in the R7000 FAQ sticky.

I can't get it to work. It prompts me for a username and password, none of which I have configured works.

If only Optware would allow me to install Samba with SWAT, that would be tits.

Kong, why did you leave SWAT out of your firmware images?

I don't use OTRW2 any longer but when I did, SWAT was available for install. I agree that SWAT would be a valuable addition to samba in the firmware image

Compile it yourself and add it to the Musl package repository. I don't see it in Kongs existing are repository.

I've been having a hard time creating a SAMBA share on my EX6200 (Kong 26365M, 02-26-2015). What happens is that the drop down list that lists possible mountpoints only lists "/mnt" as valid option, whereas my attached drive is mounted to /tmp/mnt/sda1 (see attached screenshot). I actually tried mounting the USB drive to /jffs as well, with the same result. What am I doing wrong?[/img]

you have applied settings on that page... then what does your "NAS" tab look like?

..or..

if you confirm it is a web gui bug you might want to report it on Kong's PTB thread HERE. In the meantime perhaps you could set it from the CLI, as a work around.

my samba share path is "/mnt/sdb1"

Code:
root@DD-WRT:~# nvram show | grep /mnt/sdb1
samba3_shares=[{"mp":"/mnt/sdb1","users":[],"label":"NAS","perms":"rw","sd":"NAS","public":1}]
dlna_shares=[{"types":4,"mp":"/mnt/sdb1","sd":"NAS/media/pictures"},{"types":2,"mp":"/mnt/sdb1","sd":"NAS/media/video"},{"types":1,"mp":"/mnt/sdb1","sd":"NAS/media/music"}]

& this

check this out:
http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Hardware
(if you want to live through a reboot remember to commit)

ps i'm running the Kong PTB same SVN revision as you, just not mini...

Another tip is to offload the files.db (for MiniDLNA) to an external /jffs mount point, but you can read up on that.

The drive is not mounted otherwise you would see, the graph with used/avail space. The ex6200 build does not come with Ext4 support, ext2/3 should be included. Thus while the mounter says it mounted the drive it does not know that the system has no ext4 support and wasn't able to mount it.

Thank you, I kinda suspected something along these lines. Anyway, save for reformatting the drive as Ext3, I don't suppose there's a way to make the EX6200 see the Ext4 partition, is there? Such as, say, load/run an application in CLI or something similar...

If you change the volume name of your drive/s to jffs and/or opt they will automount to those assignments.

That's not going to happen as long as EX6200 doesn't recognize Ext4. I need a way to make it recognize Ext4. How?

Path of least resistance ... use ext3

Yeah. Easier said than done. Not when you have to haul around 2TBs of stuff to reformat the drive.

true, you are 100% accurate^^, but it is still likely the path of least resistance
