I have an Actiontec MI424WR rev. D router that I'd like to install dd-wrt on for use as my main wireless router for Fairpoint fiber optic service.

The installation wiki for this model states that the model is "oem'd to verizon" and states that FiOS service will not work if DD-WRT is installed. However, after researching some sources about using dd-wrt for FiOS service with this model, I think there's an assumtion that your broadband connection is entering your router from your ONT via coax. Which in my case is not true (it's Ethernet from the ONT to the WAN port). Since the coax controllers for this model are not supported in dd-wrt, I believe that is what causes people to state that FiOS won't work on it.

Is my assumption correct? If I have an ethernet connection from my ONT to my router's WAN port will my FiOS service work with dd-wrt?
I'm a little confused about what "oem'd" means in this case. Can someone please clarify?
