I had been using the BrainSlayer-V24-preSP2/2013/04-11-2013-r21223/buffalo_wzr-600dhp/buffalo_to_ddwrt_webflash-MULTI.bin flash on the router. I had noticed that there is a newer version of the firmware the DD-WRT v24-sp2 (05/27/14) std - build 24160, so I upgraded the router to it reset it to default after the upgrade.
I have had problems on two occasions trying to get the Webgui to open up via http on the lan here. Is this a know problem or am I just seeing a quirk? I had to power cycle the router the first time it happened.

I noticed that 24461 being a fairly new build has problems with some routers, I decided to flash the router with the 23919 build.
I did a 30/30/30 reset before and after the flash. The problem is that the webgui is still timing out if I click on a number of tabs in dd-wrt just like it was doing in 24160. I even tried IE 10 under Win7 x64 and that had the same result. Its strange in that I could click on say the Firmware upgrade tab under Administration and it would open fine. Then I could click on some tabs under Services then go back and try to click on Firmware Upgrade tab and Chrome would just show the spinning circle in the tab. I would have to click on Chrome's X to stop the spinning and perhaps show the Firmware Upgrade tab properly.

you said you tried other browsers but did you clear their cache? does the issue happen from a different device when accessing the router?
also try over wifi, make sure ethernet mtu is at 1500 or auto & tcp congestion control on the administration page, do not use hybla, hybla causes a delay when using webgui for whatever reason _________________ LATEST FIRMWARE(S)

This is the same problem I had encountered with 24160 on Chrome on another computer with a wired connection. At the time I had cleared Chrome's cache which did not help.
Currently the router is connected via a wired connection to a different Windows 7 computer and the router is on its own subnet. Clearing both IE10 and Chrome cache on that machine did not help.
The Web GUI just sits there for a couple of minutes with a blank browser screen. If left alone the Web GUI page in question will eventually show up in the browser.
