Assign WAN Port to Switch

Is there any performance benefit to using the wan port over the ports in the switch? In this case the router is a bridged client rather than an ap. The wan port typically connects directly to the cpu rather than the switch. I was thinking perhaps a slightly reduced latency when using the wan port but am wondering what is best from a latency or overall performance standpoint. Thanks in advance for any info.

probably wouldn;t make a difference performance wise. they are all the same type of switched port and i think the only thing that differentiates them isn vlan tagging.
