I have a Linksys WRT54G v6 and a TP-Link TL-WR740N v4.23 (DD-WRT installed) wireless routers. I want to make one of them a repeater. Which one would work best with my main wireless router - Linksys WRT54GL v1.1 with DD-WRT installed?

I will go for TL-WR740N plus WRT54GL as WRT54G is the least powerful among them. Moreover, I will use TL-WR740N as the main wireless router as it has both G and N. However, you have to try it out yourself to find the best combination as only you can test and find out which way is the best to suit your environment.

I like the WRT54GL as main because I can change the output signal strength. I bought the TL-WR740N because I saw it was highly recommended on the dd-wrt site, however the version I got does not support increasing signal strength, which was my main reason for going to dd-wrt. Currently I am trying different firmware versions to find one that does a good job on setting up the router as a repeater. I did buy the WRT54GL because I saw it supported many of the dd-wrt advantages and maybe it would make a better repeater.
