Firmware 25251 has an interesting sound to it, simply from spelling...
Does anyone have the guts to try it on a D-Link DIR-615 D2 ? I don't, 'cause the previous 5 versions bricked my router...
Just tested it for you hope your happy . Not sure whats new or whats improved but i'll be checking it.
I just flashed it over 25143 without reseting it to default. I also flashed it over wireless instead of using an ethernet connection. I've noticed people complaining about browser issues when flashing so I'll mention my browser version as well Firefox 33.0.2 (latest as of today). These routers are solid and I doubt bricking them is easy. Infact my router is running underpowered from a iphone charger at 5v @ 1A instead of 1.2A as required. Fake/replica chargers dont provide the same clean 1A of current and router refuses to boot.
In this week alone I upgraded 3 times from 18777 > 25143 and now 25251. I've attached a screenshot hopefuly that should give you the assurance you need lol.
Thanks for your detailed response ! I noticed a small difference between our DIR-615 D2 routers: yours has CPU Ralink RT3052 id:1 rev:3 and mine is rev:2
I'll go ahead then and flash 25251, hopefully it won't brick again.
Edit: Success with 25251 on DIR-615 D2 !! flashed without much trouble over 23320. The first thing I've noticed: it is faster in speedtest.net (85-90 vs 70-75 Mb/s).
A few other observations:
1. There's no need for the Startup Commands anymore to enable 300 Mb/s. Previous 23320 and 23503 firmwares only provided 150 Mb/s for WiFi (only 1 stream enabled), so we had to manually add some commands to enable 2-stream 300 Mb/s. This is cool
2. TX Power in Wireless Advanced Settings increased to 100 mW. Previous firmware 23320 had the default 71 mW. 23503 had 100 mW. I'll leave it @ 100 mW for the time being, let's see how it behaves.
@DORE: Can you please check the value of your TX power (after you reset to Factory Defaults, of course) ? Is it 71 or 100 mW ? The default on 23320 was 71 mW, now I have 100 mW on 25251.
Update:
25251 proved to be a mistake for me on DIR-615 D2 ! Everything worked fine until I first rebooted. After reboot (whether it's initiated from webgui or by unplugging and re-plugging the power adapter) I can't connect anymore to 192.168.1.1 and I have no more internet (PPPoE connection, btw). The LEDs are still green, but nothing actually works. It's as if the router is frozen or something.
I reverted to a slightly previous firmware 25143, which seems OK for now. The default TX power in Factory Settings is still 100 mW in 25143, but it works fine after a reboot.
Maybe I'll set 71mW just for the sake of it.
Anyone has any good explanation for setting 100mW in these newer firmwares vs. 71mW in 23320 as stock TX Power ?
*I went back to 71mW. The D-Link factory specs for DIR-615 TX Power are 15 +/- 2 dBm. That's equivalent to an interval 20-50 mW. So the default 71 mW of previous DD-WRT releases is plenty enough for my taste. Why go up to 100 mW or more ? That's only producing signal distortion/noise. And maybe even a fried chipset after a while...
All firmwares after 25179 softbrick my DIR-615 D2 router (no access/no internet after a reboot). The same happens also to DIR-615 D4, according to this ticket:

You've been warned !
