I currently have dd-wrt.v24-21153_NEWD-2_K2.6_std_usb_nas.bin which I got from ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/others/eko/BrainSlayer-V24-preSP2/2013/04-01-2013-r21153/broadcom_K26/ on my 8GB WNR3500L.

I installed that a year ago, and I guess it's time for an upgrade.

(1) The /others/eko/BrainSlayer-V24-preSP2/ download folder doesn't exist anymore, so I'm looking in the /betas/ folder instead. Is that correct?

(2) Can I use a K3.x build or are should I stick with the (presumably more stable?) K2.6 builds?

(3) Will a mega build (7812K) fit on my device? I had to go for a 'std-usb-nas' build the last time, since 'big' didn't fit

I finally solved this. The latest "big" release is small enough for the N300/WNR3500L, and works great: ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/others/eko/BrainSlayer-V24-preSP2/2014/12-15-2014-r25648/broadcom_K26/dd-wrt.v24-25648_NEWD-2_K2.6_big.bin

2015 update: The latest "big" build from ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2015/06-01-2015-r27147/broadcom_K26/dd-wrt.v24-27147_NEWD-2_K2.6_big.bin works like a charm.

Interesting that you have been able to run a mega build on this router as the Wiki (http://dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Netgear_WNR3500L) says quite clearly that a mega will brick the device. I'm running a v24-sp2 mega and have been wondering it I should put something newer in and it was helpful to find your post

I'm running a "big" build, not a "mega" build. The "mega" build is larger, so I guess you should avoid it.

You're right, I was interpreting big as mega and there are apparently small differences on the details. That being the case maybe the Wiki is correct for the latest builds but it appears to be wrong for the one I'm running as it says it is DD-WRT v24-sp2 (08/12/10) mega - build 14929.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

You provided a direct link for the very same router I have. It is always challenging to find the correct version so I really appreciate you directly linking the bin file you are using.

Guys. Are you having a problem with this? I have now tried twice. The router is fine for a few hours. Get up in the morning and half or more devices are off the network. I get a connection on the desktop and my laptop but the phones and tvs do not get any ip from the router.

Soft rebooting did not help. I just keep swapping my space router back. I need to switch out to gigabit router and my N300 is and my original is not. I am sure its a s/w issue.

Any ideas on what setting to look into?

Latest upgrade to ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2015/12-10-2015-r28493/broadcom_K26/dd-wrt.v24-28493_NEWD-2_K2.6_big.bin seems to work fine
