Hello to start off I only use custom firmware to repeat the free wifi we get from our cable company about 1/4 mile away. I have flashed many different routers with no issues But now im wanting to up grade to the netgear wndr4000.v1 here is the issue.

I flahed the ver,21676 and it works ok in client mode and in repeater mode wireless . but I can not move more that 15 ft from the router and the signal is dropped. I tried 30/30/30 reset and other flash version's all the same I have no security set tried increasing TX power no luck. I tried channels and changing locations . my issue is low TX power .

Im currently using a buffalo WHR-HP- G300n flashed and it works good in client mode wireless. just wanted to try something newer and maybe faster. Thank you for reading this .

First, make sure you read this:
http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Netgear_WNDR4000
so you'll see that you have to look in the Broadcom_K26 folder...
