Hi, I'm new here, so this is my first message on this forum Smile

As the title saying, I'm looking for some informations on the ASUS RT-N18U router, before buying. This device is sold to ~73€ here (~$80), so it's very interesting for me!

I was interested by RT-N16 but this excellent router is no longer available here, quite old Sad

According to https://wikidevi.com/wiki/ASUS_RT-N18U, this router is based on a BCM47081A0 for the CPU and the switch (SoC?)

I would like to know if there is Vlan support using DD-WRT on it? Is it based on port or tagging, trunk port etc... ? There is no informations on the Wiki or somewhere else...

Although it's starting to be a little expensive, there is a lot of memory and lot of flash for this price, a good thing!

I also heard somewhere that new Broadcom gigabit routers are not well supported with DD-WRT, some fonctionnalities doesn't work very well, like 802.11q ...

Besides, I found this great review with some technical informations at the end (it's in english):
http://www.foxnetwork.ru/index.php/en/component/content/article/168-asus-rt-n18u.html

So, could you tell me more on this RT-N18U router? any feedback?

Thanks in advance

hi,
i dont use it but there is vlan Support build in...it is based on port assignment - so i dont have to tell u something on this or 11q

For me build 26405 is the only current build which works for this router.

Performance is relative good, usb storage, too. Disadvantages is the missing 5ghz Support.

Good news !

Yeah I know, there is no 5Ghz but all my devices works on 2.4 or via ethernet, and I have another router (TPLink WDR3600 : Atheros based) which works on both frequencies.

That's why I need a broadcom router which can handle VLANs.

So that mean you have VLAN tab in the interface of DDWRT of the router?

Sorry for the second post, but which best build I have to install on the router?

Usually I take the build shown in the router database, but this one is different of your build you have installed (26405).
There is also a newer beta build for this router since the build you have... I'm lost

Is there a recommended build, even in beta (a kind of stable beta build)?
