This build thread is for reporting successes and problem with loading this experimental test build. This is important info for developers and users. Always state your hardware and SPECIFIC build (e.g. 27490_NEWD-2_K2.6_mega-nv64k.bin). Do not ask questions about your specific router or how to configure it in this thread; create your own thread to discuss any specific problems you have or need resolved. This thread is to report info, not to seek it. Posts that do not add to understanding this build will be deleted. Make sure you know how to flash properly and the risk before using this build. It is important to adhere to these requirements, to keep this thread from becoming impossibly long and useless. If you don't know what build to flash and how to flash properly and have a means of recovery if things should go wrong, do NOT flash this experimental test build. _________________ THERE ARE NO STRANGERS HERE; ONLY FRIENDS YOU HAVEN'T YET MET.

@Guru(s) : what is the right way to upgrade the router ?
2 WR2543ND bricked (http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=284111), one with web upgrade, one with telnet upgrade, I don't want to brick personnal router (no more backup router).

Which was the build version that bricked them ? I guess it was an older build, not this one (27490). _________________ THERE ARE NO STRANGERS HERE; ONLY FRIENDS YOU HAVEN'T YET MET.

@R7000 users : how did you upgrade your router ?
Webupgrade or telnet upgrade ?
I copy the bin file to the local /opt dir on the usb stick and upgrade locally with kongs ddup script.
This does require you to load a kong bin so you can copy his ddup to the /opt/bin on the usb so it's available to load BS's bins.
Kong's ddup will delete the bin file after the upgrade so I wrote a script to cp the bin to a temp name for upgrade that kong then deletes leaving the original intact in case I want to reload it.
I telnet to the router to invoke the script.
I use 2 scripts named ddb and ddk to call whomever's bin I am loading.
Here are the scripts I wrote and keep in /opt/bin. In deference to Kong I will not upload his work.

May I ask why are you using this rather complicated method to flash a new build ? Is there any problem with the regular webflash upgrade ? _________________ THERE ARE NO STRANGERS HERE; ONLY FRIENDS YOU HAVEN'T YET MET.

I'm lazy and I prefer local operations. The Ap router I telnet to and the main is done via serial port so I can observe/capture the shutdown and reboot.
I spent a lot of years working on secured and isloated special purpose Public Safety networks so sneaker net
was vital to the operation and maintenance of them.
I cheat with this one though, the usb sticks are shared via samba and I also use WINscp along with the Tessh ssh client and Kitty.
