VPN works on DD-WRT router - but not on connected Airport Ex

Hi,
I have an Asus 68U that I have recently bought and installed dd-wrt on (DD-WRT v3.0-r27506 (07/09/15) std). I have set up the VPN, and all computers connected to the Asus are safely behind the VPN. However I have an Airport Extreme that is connected via ethernet at the other end of the house. It was working perfectly - but since I have set up VPN on the ASUS - the Airport does not work at all - no internet, no local area network, Plex doesnt work, it cant even ping the Asus. Can anyone help me get both working - I am out of my depth!! The Airport is in Bridge mode. Thanks in advance
