You can certainly use any number of later builds with it, even the latest one, which shockingly seems to be getting many positive comments. I haven't tried it yet on mine, but will.
The issue hasn't been what is the most current one that will work, but the most current one that will work well. For many years, you'd have to look very hard to find a recent build that didn't have some gaping problem, thus the continued popularity of 14929, particularly on older devices like this that don't require newer builds.
