I just got a TL-WR740N in the hope of using it as a wireless bridge. It was in a bargain bin for $5 so WTF. Out of the box I enabled WDS and disabled DHCP and surveyed for my WiFi and it worked, except I missed a step and had a wide open AP. I reset it and added WPA2 and flashed the latest firmware and it stopped doing what I wanted. I flashed it with factory-to-ddwrt.bin from the dd-wrt database and followed a couple of tutorials and had no luck. Then I tried tl-wr740nv4-webflash.bin and had no better luck. Now I want to flash it back to stock and try again and it doesn't work. Me no dumb-dumb so I downloaded wr740nv4_en_3_17_0_up_boot(150105).bin (the newest firmware) from TP-Link before I started. But after using dd-wrt for a firmware 'upgrade' with factory reset selected it rebooted and came up with the dd-wrt prompt to set a username and password. I got an older firmware from TP-Link, wr740nv4_en_3_16_6_up_boot(130529).bin and tried again with the same results. Why does dd-wrt not flash it back with the mfr firmware?
