I've read a lot of announcements and the Wiki but I can't wrap my head around it. This is my situation:
I have bought a WRT-160N v3 (corerev 17). It already has this firmware installed:
DD-WRT v24-sp2 (01/02/10) mini - build 13575M NEWD-2 K2.6 Eko
It came like that. https-access to the administration web interface doesn't work. Otherwise it seems to operate but I haven't used it a lot, because I need it to run OpenVPN before I can use it.
1.) Do I really need the Management Mode Reboot? Or is a normal reboot from the DD-WRT web interface enough?
2.) The Announcement in this forum recommends biuld 14929. Several warnings in Wiki and the forum instruct to only use Firmware with "wrt-160n" in the file name. However, I have not been able to find a vpn-version with "wrt-160n" in the file name.
Can I use dd-wrt.v24-14929_NEWD-2_K2.6_openvpn_small.bin ?
Also, the setup page over at StrongVPN (http://www.strongvpn.com/setup_dd-wrt_openvpn_manual.shtml) seems to indicate an "advanced settings" option on the DD-WRT OpenVPN client config page, but I can't seem to find it. I would like to try later versions of the same firmware to see if that will work with StrongVPN. At this point I can't get the firmware above to work with StrongVPN (and there's no SSH option on that firmware to use their alternate installation).
Any suggestions? Could we use the latest build that follows that nomenclature?
