Hi there, new to this forum.
I might first explain what it is I want to do and why i wish to move to dd-wrt.My Linksys WRT54G V8.0 does not support WDS (Wireless distribution system), and I "think" that is what i need.

I have a new TV Samsung LN40D550 and it has a RJ45 input "Wireless LAN Adaptor Support" where i can run a Cat5 from the TV to a router in this case my Linksys E1000. I wish to use the spare router WRT54G i have to link the TV to the Linksys E1000 "wirelessly". I think/hope DD-WRT is the solution.

I have a Linksys WRT54G V 8.0 . I have just upgraded the firmware to the latest Linksys firmware via the Linksys website with no complications. Now I wish to move to DD-WRT. I am on the router database page and it reads:
V24 PreSP2 [BETA] (recommended), in the drop down box.
Below that are listed 5 files for downloading
1)CFE-Updater-Gv8-GSv7-v3.bin
2) vxworkskillerGv8-v3.bin
3) vxworksrevert-Gv8-v3.bin
4) dd-wrt.v24_micro_generic.bin
5) dd-wrt.v24_micro_olsrd_generic.bin

I have downloaded tftp.exe and am familiar with that process.

I have never bricked a router and wish not to do so now, so i am hitting this forum b4 i mess things up.
My questions basically are,
1) Can I do what I'm trying to do with DD-WRT
If so:
2)Which BIN file would I download to use for the firmware upgrade?
Allot of words for not much of a question huh Very Happy
Thanks[/list]

follow the wiki for install instructions. you only need the killer and the micro.bin (+ the tftp utility)

In your case, I would suggest you set the v8 up as a client bridge which is nothing more than a wireless nic you wire your tv to.

welcome to the forum.. please read through the announcements at the top of the forum.

good luck..

So these 2:
vxworkskillerGv8-v3.bin
dd-wrt.v24_micro_generic.bin (in that order)and not
dd-wrt.v24_micro_olsrd_generic.bin
then of course the tftp utility
I'm hoping there are detailed instructions as to setting it up as a client bridge other wise i will be back sooner than later.
Thank you friend
