On my Cicso/Linksys E1000 v2.1,

What is THE LATEST build i can run?

http://www.dd-wrt.com/routerdb/de/download/Cisco%20Linksys/E1000/v2.0%20/%20v2.1/dd-wrt.v24-21061_NEWD-2_K2.6_std_nokaid_small.bin/3947

Can i run that one??

The router db page makes it seem like i can, but the forum seems to suggest v2 and v2.1 require different files??

Ok, so i ran that one and it SEEMED to work fine except for the SSH issue.. which i need to have working SSH...

Can i run some variant of build 21676?? Which one do i have to download to be able to use it on the Linksys E1000v2.1 ??

Does the Linksys e1000v2.1 require a special build? Or can i just run ANY K2.6 21676 build that will fit in it's flash space? Does E1000v2.1 brick if i don't run a specific build after initial flash? What's the diff between the 2.0 and the 2.1 E1000 from a dd-wrt flash standpoint?

Help.

so i see this on another website:

"Max Firmware Size = 3801088 bytes"

So can i use any 21676 build that is that size or smaller?

or can i just web GUI update the Linksys E1000v2.1 from "DD-WRT v24-sp2 (03/25/13) std-nokaid-small
(SVN revision 21061)" to this one??

does it only matter for the first initial flash from OEM firware to dd-wrt? Or does the v2.0 / v2.1 distinction matter always when selecting builds for the E1000v2.1 ??

How do i find out what THE latest, most fully featured, most bug-free, stable, version of dd-wrt is that will run SPECIFICALLY on E1000v2.1 ?

... or maybe a better question is, how can i determine what the latest stable, fully featured version, fully functional version of dd-wrt is, which will fit, and run well in a Cisco/Linsys E1000v2.1 ?

Peacock announcement, note 4. And by searching and reading. And by trying builds, as no one can tell whether a build is fully functional for your purposes. Make sure you do not use a build that precedes support for your router.

i HAVE read the peacock announcement. But i have also read the forums. And i've heard talk of the e1000v2.1 having some peculiarity versus the e1000v2.0 having to do with the hardware. there are lots of questions in my mind that aren't answered in the threads...

Nobody even mentions what the hardware differences actually ARE. At some point a special build was created for the e1000v2.1 specifically, and there were subsequent releases. It's not mentioned whether that special build is ONLY for the initial install EVER, of of once you get that initial image into the router and running successfully that you can just use any firmware AFTER it.

Or if it HAS to be built specifically FOR the v2.1's unmentioned differences.

WHat's the point of having an interactive forum, if you can't post questions?

p.s. what prevents that version from showing up in the router database page??

It'd probably help someone else in the future.

If you'd read the stickies and announcements you'd see not to follow the router database.

Will this (dd-wrt.v24-22118_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini_e1000v2.bin) work for the 2.1?

I have a build of DDWRT on my E1000 v2.1 currently, but was looking for a better one. The install guide linked there just takes to me to the 2.0 page unfortunately.

Which you should read. Also read the stickies and announcements
You asked if you could flash the thee1200v2.bin.
If you'd read everything you'd know you only flash the file with the router model in the name if you have stock fw on it. Since you said you have dd-wrt already on there, you wouldn't flash that.
