Hi All,

I tried to flash a linksys E1000 V2.1 as described in a post a couple up, first with

http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/download.php?id=19259

then with

http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/download.php?id=18970

and I think I bricked the router.

The first one seemed to work, so did the second, but then the router went blank. All lights show up dim and a 30/30/30 doesn't work. I can't ping it, even with my IP set manually to 192.168.1.77 mask 255.255.255.0.

I definitely could be making a mistake somewhere as I am a novice, but it doesn't look good as far as I can tell.

Anything I can do without opening up the router?

Really amazing work everyone has done here.

Thanks in advance for any help.

16964 was the 1st build that supported this router. You 1st flashed 16968.. so far so good. But then you flashed 16758 (a build for the V2, not V2.1).. A build that was born before the 1st build that supported the router (V2.1). That didn't work out so well for you.

Check the wiki for "recover from a bad flash" and also the peacock announcment.. note 6 I think. If nothing works, you need serial to recover.

Hi everyone,

I've been using DDWRT on a few routers for several years now, and have encountered a problem I've not yet seen. I can't access management mode. A traditional 30/30/30 doesn't seem to be doing anything. I'm obviously missing something. Is there another method I need to be using?

I have 16968. Is 17201 new for E1000 v2.1? Can I flash from 16968 directly to 17201? Thanks!

Just confirming, the firmware I've linked to below is the one you are referring to which will work on an e1000 v2.1?

http://dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/downloads/others/eko/BrainSlayer-V24-preSP2/2011/06-14-11-r17201/broadcom_K26/dd-wrt.v24-17201_NEWD-2_K2.6_mini_e1000v2.bin

Sorry to be so pedantic, I just dont want to brick my hardware!

Thanks

Close, but NO, Cgr!

If you want to be safe, flash the build from page 2, and then upgrade to the appropriate k26 build if you wish to, following the steps in the peacock announcement. I don't know whether the build you have linked is JUST for the v2 or also works for the v2.1. If you wish to be safest, use the build from page 2 of this thread.

I guess I should have also mentioned my reason for upgrading. I'm trying to tweak the most out of my wifi (32 other AP's available from within my apartment from surrounding dwellings, so there's a bit of customisation required!), and the current version (I believe) is reporting incorrect noise and signal strengths (dd-wrt based repeater bridge on the other end can have noise values ~5/6 lower). It's not a massive issue either way (still all works and is mostly fast enough), so I'm content to sit on my current version.

lol Razz

Which build are you referring to? There are two builds on page 2 (16964 - e1000v2-testfor21.bin, and 16968 - e1000v2.bin). Both are v24, NEWD-2 driver and kernel 2.6 (same as the BS build of 17201). I'm presently running 16968 on my router, which is NEWD-2 and kernel 2.6, so I cant see why the BS build 17201 I just referenced wouldnt work(?).

This is the essence of my problem/question.

Perhaps a better question would be whether in future there will be a separate build for v2.1 of this router, or whether it will use the v2 software with the caveat that the router is first flashed with whichever firmware file you are eluding to.

Either way, I suspect I'm better off just sitting on my current version (eko build 16968) for the time being.

Hi Guys,

Is there a VPN version of the v2.1 firmware to install? It doesn't appear that the one that is offered in this thread supports VPN (mini).

Any help would be appreciated (I may have already bricked 1 E1000 trying this Sad ).

After you've done the initial flash, flash it again with a k2.6 openvpn small build from one of the latest revisions on the ftp server like 17084. See the peacock thread about space limitations and use any generic k2.6 build that will fit onto a 4MB model.

Is this openvpn working for you on your e1000?

Hi! I have almost that same question but i ask how can i run NoCat Splash screen... in mini firmware hotspot services except sputnik are not active. I think you must flash nokaid firmware(for small ram devices) to get it woking. I have found THIS link what i think should work. Can someone confirm if is this possible?
Thanks.
