Asus RTN13U B1 3g modem trouble

I'm having trouble with a Huawei E367 modem. I have build 19327 installed.
First I wasn't able to connect at all, after upgrading to 19327 it suddenly worked. I then attached a extension USB cable to the modem to be able to move it for better signal. After that it won't connect. Off course i disconnected the USB cable and tried again without it.

So anyone got any ideas to what is wrong?

USB extension cable must be of best quality.

Unplugging and plugging the stick back in can confuse the routers usb driver, best is to have modem stick attached when booting the router.

Reset to factory if all fails.
using extension cable:
Use a good quality USB cable as LOM rightly pointed.
If that doesn't help use a good quality powered USB hub.
