is your wa801nd v3 a US version? where did you bought it? please provide the exact model written on the label found on the router bottom. which stock firmware did you flash back to (version and link please)?

It should be a US version. I bought it in Greece. The original fw is a 4MB.

On the sticker:
Model: TL-WA801ND ver: 3.0
FCC ID: TE7WA801NDV3

I tried to modify and flash this release: ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2016/01-02-2016-r28647/tplink_tl-wr841ndv10/ The "factory-to-ddwrt.bin" image.

The (working) stock fw I flashed back using tftp (LAN IP 192.168.0.66 MASK: 255.255.255.0 Gateway: blank) is this: http://www.tp-link.com/res/down/soft/TL-WA801ND_V3_150723.zip from this page: http://www.tp-link.com/en/download/TL-WA801ND.html#Firmware

I attached it in case somebody needs it. I've discarded the "boot" part (first 257 bytes).

Nuh it doesn't work. It does the same thing: Boot -> eth led light up for 10 sec -> reboot and so on. I tried to access the stock fw through ssh to get some info but I get "Server refused to allocate pty" error. It doesn't seem to respond to telnet, either. The thing is that I don't have a serial cable to do serial debug.

It reboots forever as before. It looks like a kernel panic.

WA801NDv3 does work as WR802Nv1 using this stock firmware (after discarding "boot" part and header modification). However it doesn't work with modified TL-WR841ND v9 firmware as WR802Nv1 does according to this thread.

It doesn't work. It seems to boot properly (power & ethernet led light up) until something happens and restarts. I have ordered a USB to TTL serial cable from china. When it arrives I'll post more information.
